NCOMWOS-09

Hi everybody,
Had a great weekend this time at Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam. As I had mentioned earlier in my blog, my paper was selected at the National Conference On Mobile Wireless Middleware Operating Systems and Applications(NCOMWOS). This is my first paper presentation in my career. I had made my paper on the topic "Municipal Wifi", the main idealogy behind the paper is taking wi-fi to the entire public and improve computer literacy among Indians. I had presented the paper to my satisfaction. Mr.Deeban Raj from Chennai, who presided over the presentation, really enjoyed my presentation and gave me the feedback "Awesome Performance" and I was really happy. The highlight was when a student gave a feedback that, he would take me as a role model and present his future papers. My parents accompanied me and they were really very very happy.

And regarding the conference, I was really the way it went. We reached AEC at 9.00 Am. The college's location really fascinated me. The lush green vegetation really fascinated me. And regarding the hospitality, it was the best I had ever seen. Just didn't expect such a hospitality from such a place. They really made us to feel at home. Hats off to the organisers of NCOMWOS 09. and was also happy with the way, the session went. No long sleepy sessions. It was planned in such a way that the entire set of audience, never got bored. So, to summarise it was really a great experience at NCOMWOS-09...

My first experience...

Hi Everybody,
I know this is not technical, but still wanted to share this thing in my blog. I tried out some thing new, really very new in my life. Ya, it happened when I cooked for the first time. But cooking is really a hell task man, really tougher than programming itself. You know what, I cooked MAGGI. Though it doesnt need expertise to cook a noodles, its always fun when you do it for the first time. I will tell yu the steps to cook noodles, without using a stove.
Step 1:
Crush the noodles into small pieces
Step 2:
Boil some water using the immersion heater or a kettle
Step 3:
Evenly spread the tastemaker, provided with Maggi on the crushed noodles.
Step 4;
When the water begins to goggle , just take it and pour it over the noodles-taste maker mix.
step 5:
Take your text book, which you hate the most and cover the tray in which the mixture is kept.
Step 6:
Mix the mixture, in definite intervals
step 7:
After 5 minutes, take the noodles, its hot and ready to be served.

I dont think this is a big achievement, but this in my life, is really something which I cant forget, my first cooking experience. And the main thing was, my noodles was a grand success and I really enjoyed it. In the mean time, I have lots and lots of other works to do. Will meet you again in my next blog...

I Will Be Even Greater Tomorrow

Hi Everybody,
Things are going well these days, except for the maths paper in my first midsem. And one really great news is that, my paper has been selected at Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam. The event there is "National Conference on Mobile,Wireless Middleware, Operating Systems and Applications(NCOMWOS-09). Getting help from my seniors, since this is going to be my first paper presentation, in my life and I want to make the first one a grand hit. And one more thing which happened in this cycle of time is that I had gone home for a two day holiday. I had created a software for my school. Its "Automated Parents Attendance Registry", a web application using My SQL and PHP. That was dedicated to KVSMAT by me. I was really happy to do something worthy for my school, which has played an inevitable role in my development, both technically and non-technically. Things went fine during the holidays, but two days just passed away like anything. Expecting the next vacation soon. Ok I have to leave now. I have lots of work left on my side, including making presentation for the conference. Will tell you the rest in my next blog

Doing Some Good Work...

Hi Everybody,
Blogging after a short gap. Well, these days things are going really fine. Looking out for upcoming projects. Submitted my paper for the paper presentation at arasu engineering college, Kumbakonam. Expecting a good result. Gave my speech in the inaugural of GLOSS, the open source community at SASTRA. The crowd was around 40, being very low. I am amazed to see such a poor response from first years. Dont know what the hell they do in their hostel, because when we where in our first year, whatever club is inaugurated, we would atleast go to the inaugural session of it. But this time the set is not that enthusiastic. But may be as time flies, they should come. Then every weekend, a midsemester exam. A bit tight packed schedule. And one more thing is, today we have the inaugural of SCANIT, our student association and I am being appointed as the Executive Member. Hope will have a nice time in the inaugural. will blog those proceedings soon, when I get a proper wifi in my hostel...

Just tried out my skill on a review...

Hi Everybody,
I am presenting a review on my laptop,Dell Vostro 1310. I would say that this thing is too good in a much compact size and lesser weight. To say exactly, this is cheaper than Dell Studio, but costlier than Dell Inspiron. Its exclusively ment for business use. Inspiron comes with different colours because of its plastic body. But VOSTRO comes in a metallic black colour only since its body is made of metal alloy. So its known for its durability and light weight.
Regarding the performance, its needless to explain, because its a product of dell.
Some of its exclusive advantages:
*Light weight and compactness
*Dell's free fall technology, which safegaurds the hard disk, even when the lappy falls from a height of 1metre.
*Dell's cool slice technology, which reduces the huge amount of heat from ur lappy
(I am sure that its better than compaq and HP in this case, because my room mates have them and we have compared them to a greater extent)
*Service assistance from Dell
*360 degree display
*The smoothest and highly responding touchpad I have ever seen
*Value for money

Some disadvantages:
*As every product has, VOSTRO 1310 has its own disadvantage. U know, ur ears must be sharper than the sharpest,if you are using it without any headphones or speakers. I bet that the FM radio from my nokia 1650 would sound better when compared to ma lappy. So inspite of its light weight, you have to keep on carrying a head phone with you. I find this as the only disadvantage with this product.

Generalia:
In general this is really good. I have a Dell Vostro 1310, which comes with 13.3 inch viewing size,2GB RAM, and a 250 GB hard disk. I had ordered it in august 2008 and the cost with tax was Rs40,040. I couldnt get any free goodies because I was provided with this in my college with loan support from CUB. It has an intel media accelerator card. I dont usually play games, but I have NFS MW running smoothly with this accelerator card. But i am not an expertise in these things and all, perhaps this would be the only latest game I know till date.

A bit of advice:
I rather hate advising, but still i thought that this would be useful to you. See,if you have decided to purchase a lappy, then just sit and think for a moment. Contact the people who are already owning that product, so that u get the plus and minus of that product. Also dont opt for higher configurations, without knowing your needs. I know a friend who has an Apple Imac for 1,30,000 using it now only as a DVD player. Such things are not necessary. You need a laptop for some 3 years or so. Because whatever configuration you purchase now,its value will get halved in not less than 6 months. So keep the story in mind and also make it a point to consult with people like me, because we have all sorts of laptops in our hostels, right from elcot to Apple MAC.

Concludingly:
Hope I have bored you too much. Regarding my Dell Vostro, i would rate it 4.5 on 5 point scale... Thanks for reading people.

The WIFI hunt

Hi Everybody,
Blogging after a short break. The Wifi system at SASTRA, faced a few difficulties in the recent days and so couldnt even check my mail frequently. But today with a grit, kept my alarm at 4 and woke up and now sitting before the internet. I am actually working on a paper presentation to be conducted at Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam. The paper is on the topic "wifi". Actually the concept of the conference to be held there is on wireless networking. So hoped that this topic would also match my interests and will also be very informative. And also, getting so busy these days, so feeling a bit tired. But the spirit of my determination has never gone done.

The JOOMLA Magic

Hi Everybody,
As a part of improving myself technically, I attended the GLOSS(The Opensourcing Club at SASTRA) session on JOOMLA yesterday. Our camus ambassador Dwarakanath handled the session. He did it in his own special way of teaching things. The crowd was decent such a way that the seminar hall was full. Was just amazed to see how JOOMLA and DRUPER had made the work of a web designer very very easy. Right from the creation of database to designing pages, everything is done by the software. Thanks to open sourcing, for we could just get everything of these free of cost under the GPL license. I was too happy that I had gained a lot from the session. And right from today morning I had read my text book on Microprocessor and Microcontrollers. Currently my staff is teaching the architecture of 8086. Not that interesting, but definitely better than the Engineering Drawing paper in the last semester. Nowadays I have started loving things I do and I am determined that I should do domething really "BIG"
