Irrelevant patriotism

Hi everybody,
First of all I would like to make one thing clear. I am not against patriotism and even I say I am patriotic. But in this post, I want to tell something on what people are thinking as patriotism, by wearing a mask called patriot, one can never express his patriotism. And also this article does not apply to all those brave soldiers who are struggling hard at the borders for me to sleep peacefully and I take this as a chance to pay a tribute to those mighty hearts and their families.

Are we patriotic?
Are we patriotic when,
  • We give and get bribes
  • We escape from taxes
  • We piss off on the road
  • We travel without a ticket in a local train
  • We recommend and get recommended by people for admissions and jobs
  • We give lakhs in the name of donations
  • We move towards foreign products
This is where actual patriotism stands. But we all say that we are patriotic when,
  • We watch all sorts of cricket matches
  • We pay homage to our soldiers
  • We host the national flag on Independence day and Republic day and watch out for the special programs telecasted
  • We stand erect for the 52 second national anthem
  • We sing Vandhe Matharam and Jai-Ho.
Is this all patriotism gentle man??? If you are really patriotic, I dont ask you to go to the border and fight, because that alone is not patriotism. Just pay your taxes regularly and play the role of a proud citizen for your country. Use swadheshi products, there by promoting your country manufacturers. Just do things legally. Respect merit and throw away recommendations. Help the poor and do preacher the younger generations about the need of youth for the countries development, rather than watching those busted TV programs on national holidays. Also have a clean account system, never give a place for black money.

This is what I wanted to say. Just tear off the mask you are wearing yourself as a patriot and understand what real patriotism is and act accordingly. JAI HIND !!!

Open Source For Students...

Hi everybody,
25th august(2009), was another festive day for GLOSS, the open source community at SASTRA. Posters were put up with the title "Open Source For Students", a talk by Sun's marketing engineer. The session was unusually planned at 11.30 and I was a bit shocked. Because nowadays in SASTRA you could find only 15 heads turning out for a session at evening 5. But to my surprise the Tifac-Auditorium was full. I realised the power of GLOSS then. It was Kumar Abhishek, 2009 passed out of SASTRA university. Its always good to hear something from our brother, rather than hearing it from uncles and grandpas. We were all really happy to see such a dynamic person coming again live on stage, because I was in my first year, when Kumar Abhishek was here and I don't have personal contacts with him. He is also one of the founding members of GLOSS and it was really a great experience with him on stage.

The way he handled the session was really interesting and pretty different. He was so active on stage, so that the crowd never got bored, inspite of the hot audi, without A/C. He spoke about the past, present and the future trends in IT. And he mainly concentrated on the future trends and also, made us realise that we are developers but not users. It was pretty interesting, when he told us about the stuff on net like youtube and all other stuff regarding OS. It had quenched my thirst for a really great session, after a long gap. The energy level was high and was maintained constantly through out the session. And all the other arrangements made by GLOSS was also cool. Dwarakanath hosted the show in his unique style and Open Solaris DVD's where distributed to all and the blogging contest was announced. But that is not the reason why I am writing this blog for, but I couldnt stop blogging about this great event. Thanks to GLOSS for bringing in such highly dynamic personalities and making us ready to swim in the corporate ocean. Meet you in my next blog...

Chameleonistic !!! ???

Hi everybody,
Just wanted to share something. Recently I came across one of my college mate's blog. In the "About Me" column, he had described himself as "chameleonistic". First of all I will make one thing very clear. I am not targeting that particular guy whom I had previously mentioned. I have seen several people like this in my life and do you think having such a tendency to change according to people and situations is really great???

I would really hate such things because I always wanted to be myself and I dont think i can change according to other people and all, because I do have a passion towards things and I want to be myself. Regarding people with chameleonistic character, I would like to keep myself away from them, because there is no guarantee that they would remain the same to me everyday. They may even sweep me off my feet and I don't want that to literally happen. I want people to be my friends who don't wear any sort of mask on their face and who show their real face to me. I am just mentioning it here, not to hurt anybody personally, but its "My Blog, My Passion"

NCOMWOS-09

Hi everybody,
Had a great weekend this time at Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam. As I had mentioned earlier in my blog, my paper was selected at the National Conference On Mobile Wireless Middleware Operating Systems and Applications(NCOMWOS). This is my first paper presentation in my career. I had made my paper on the topic "Municipal Wifi", the main idealogy behind the paper is taking wi-fi to the entire public and improve computer literacy among Indians. I had presented the paper to my satisfaction. Mr.Deeban Raj from Chennai, who presided over the presentation, really enjoyed my presentation and gave me the feedback "Awesome Performance" and I was really happy. The highlight was when a student gave a feedback that, he would take me as a role model and present his future papers. My parents accompanied me and they were really very very happy.

And regarding the conference, I was really the way it went. We reached AEC at 9.00 Am. The college's location really fascinated me. The lush green vegetation really fascinated me. And regarding the hospitality, it was the best I had ever seen. Just didn't expect such a hospitality from such a place. They really made us to feel at home. Hats off to the organisers of NCOMWOS 09. and was also happy with the way, the session went. No long sleepy sessions. It was planned in such a way that the entire set of audience, never got bored. So, to summarise it was really a great experience at NCOMWOS-09...

My first experience...

Hi Everybody,
I know this is not technical, but still wanted to share this thing in my blog. I tried out some thing new, really very new in my life. Ya, it happened when I cooked for the first time. But cooking is really a hell task man, really tougher than programming itself. You know what, I cooked MAGGI. Though it doesnt need expertise to cook a noodles, its always fun when you do it for the first time. I will tell yu the steps to cook noodles, without using a stove.
Step 1:
Crush the noodles into small pieces
Step 2:
Boil some water using the immersion heater or a kettle
Step 3:
Evenly spread the tastemaker, provided with Maggi on the crushed noodles.
Step 4;
When the water begins to goggle , just take it and pour it over the noodles-taste maker mix.
step 5:
Take your text book, which you hate the most and cover the tray in which the mixture is kept.
Step 6:
Mix the mixture, in definite intervals
step 7:
After 5 minutes, take the noodles, its hot and ready to be served.

I dont think this is a big achievement, but this in my life, is really something which I cant forget, my first cooking experience. And the main thing was, my noodles was a grand success and I really enjoyed it. In the mean time, I have lots and lots of other works to do. Will meet you again in my next blog...

I Will Be Even Greater Tomorrow

Hi Everybody,
Things are going well these days, except for the maths paper in my first midsem. And one really great news is that, my paper has been selected at Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam. The event there is "National Conference on Mobile,Wireless Middleware, Operating Systems and Applications(NCOMWOS-09). Getting help from my seniors, since this is going to be my first paper presentation, in my life and I want to make the first one a grand hit. And one more thing which happened in this cycle of time is that I had gone home for a two day holiday. I had created a software for my school. Its "Automated Parents Attendance Registry", a web application using My SQL and PHP. That was dedicated to KVSMAT by me. I was really happy to do something worthy for my school, which has played an inevitable role in my development, both technically and non-technically. Things went fine during the holidays, but two days just passed away like anything. Expecting the next vacation soon. Ok I have to leave now. I have lots of work left on my side, including making presentation for the conference. Will tell you the rest in my next blog
